Biography:

Abstract:

Background: HIV AIDS is a “ghost” which has recently become increasingly frightening for the people, especially the people of Timor-Leste. Discussion of HIV AIDS is expected to increase the knowledge of the general public about HIV AIDS.

Method: The phenomenon of the iceberg is indeed the most appropriate nickname for HIV AIDS. The disease is dubbed the iceberg phenomenon because its real case includes cases that have a large list of victims, but it is very difficult to express the whole. Data on HIV epidemic has been recorded in East Timor’s health ministry records in 2017 reaching 655. Low knowledge about HIV transmission of AIDS makes people tend to stay away from AIDS
victims. From 2003-2013 total 408 people. And who had died at that time a total of 40 people

Result: High burden districts with HIV / AIDS in Timor Leste 2003-2012. In Baucau district total cases of 11 (3%), on ARV 1, death 0, on follow up 10. Bobonaro total cases 18 (6%) on ARV 6, death 6, on follow up 6. Covalima Total cases 7 (2% ), On ARV 1, death 0, on follow up 6. Dili total cases 261 (83%), on ARV 74 (89%), death 27 (33%) on follow up 160. So total Cases: 297, On ARV : 82, death: 32 and on follow up 182.

Conclusion: The results show the low level of knowledge of the majority in Timor-Leste. However, as the population grows by 2017, so do people living with HIV will increase? Further analysis identified percentages in the capital or better known in urban areas, many of which still do not understand the epidemic and prevention of HIV. So HIV and AIDS education is very important in the education of children of this age.
